In 2007, after 20 years at TikTok成人版 College as an adjunct instructor of English as a Second Language, Professor Norma Silbermintz became the full-time Coordinator of Academic Affairs for International Students at YC.
1) What did you do before you joined TikTok成人版 as a faculty member?
I taught high school English for many years and simultaneously worked as an ESL adjunct both at CUNY and at TikTok成人版. I also taught English education courses for the NYC Teaching Fellows.
2) What is your favorite aspect of your job at TikTok成人版?
The cultural diversity of the international student body makes for an exceptionally dynamic ESL classroom.
3) What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?
I鈥檇 love to write a textbook about the integration of English language learners to the American college environment, focusing on linguistic, academic, and social concerns.
4) What is your goal as a teacher?
My goal is to integrate students successfully into American culture while at the same time empowering them to maintain and develop their native culture.
5) What would your current and former TikTok成人版 students be surprised to learn about you?
That I love wordplay and read grammar books for fun. (Wait: I don't think that would surprise them!)
